Giorgio Pantano 1° (2'06"653), Enrico Toccacelo 9° (2'07"499):

Giorgio Pantano set the pace in the first day session in Spa-Francorchamps. The Coloni Motorsport's italian driver scored an excellent 2'06"653, in front of the last year's race winner Ricardo Sperafico. Pantano has been the fastest both in the morning and in the afternoon session.

The weather was very changeable in Spa and all the driver set their best performances in the last minutes. Enrico Toccacelo has been very unlucky: in the last outing with the new tyres, Enrico had a mechanical failure and he broke the gearbox. Enrico was in the front position, but is forced to stop the car and he did not improve his time. Anyway, he scored a good 2'07"499 just behind Enge, who took the eight time.

The championship leader Bourdais was fifth, five tenths behind the poleman Pantano. Coloni Motorsport's driver dedicated this first day to set the car in race conditions. Pantano and Toccacelo completed many laps with full tank and old tyres. The Team's very satisfied with the performance of the car in all conditions and the working programme has been completing.
