Tuesday, 25 March, an intense two-day test for Coloni Motorsport on the Italian track of Magione is ended: Hungarian driver Zsolt Baumgartner was present to continue preparation for the next F.I.A. F.3000 International Championship.
Baumgartner (who skipped the Imola test in February because of a knee injury) is now quite fit and showed immediately a good feeling with the Coloni's Lola, setting in the Friday morning --first day of test- the new track record in 1.03,30. Tuesday, with dirty track and less quick than Friday, Zsolt Baumgartner achieved however an excellent time (1.03,55), using an old set of tyres. On the whole, Baumgartner covered over 170 laps without any kind of problem on his Lola, allowing to make big progress in the car development.
Together with Baumgartner ran one of the Red Bull Junior Team drivers too, Tonio Liuzzi, who Friday lapped in 1.03,31 (beating the old track record) and Tuesday in 1.03,91 with old tyres.
In a little while also Ricardo Sperafico will back at work on track: the Brazilian star, BMW -- WilliamsF1 Team tester, after the excellent results achieved in Imola will join Zsolt Baumgartner for the last test before the beginning of the 2003 season, in Barcelona (Spain), 10 and 11 April.
