Reigning F3000 Champions Prepare For 2002 With New Aussie Driver
Reigning FIA F3000 International Championship winning team Coca-Cola Nordic Racing head to the sunshine of Portugal for the first official FIA F3000 test of the year on February 13-14.
With the opening round of the 2002 season just seven weeks away, it is all systems go for the British team, which completed its 2002 driver line-up earlier this week with the signing of Australian Ryan Briscoe.
The two-day official test at the Estoril circuit, the former home of the Portuguese Formula One Grand Prix, will be important for the team as it will mark the start of the season proper.
"Having won both the driver and team championship titles last year, we are determined to start the 2002 season as strong as possible and that means getting down to the serious business of testing in Estoril next week," Nordic Racing team principal Derek Mower said.
"We have a pre-determined schedule of tasks to work through with both (H ungarian) Zsolt Baumgartner and Ryan Briscoe, all of which will be working towards the opening race in Brazil at the end of March."
Team Manager Chris Mower added: "There is no doubt the temptation will arise to go out and be the quickest, but as we have seen in the past that will only jeopardise our testing programme. In other words, I don't expect us to come out on top just yet. We have got a lot of testing to do before we go out in qualifying trim."
A report and full times will be available on www.nordicracing.com following the tests.
