The Nordic Racing team enjoyed a successfil two-day FIA official F3000 test at the A1 Ring in Austria on Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21st June, with Justin Wilson and Kevin McGarrity setting impressive times as the team prepared for the next round of the FIA F3000 Championship, to be held on Saturday 1st July at Magny Cours, France.
The test saw a 30-car field using the two days of official running to fine tune their race car set-ups, with Nordic Racing taking extra care to ensure that their drivers were running in "legal" trim. "It was very important for our drivers to run at the test in the same conditions that they would find at a race," explained Team Manager Chris Mower. "In the morning sessions we tried out various different set-ups for both Kevin and Justin. Then, in the afternoon, which is when the two qualifying sessions at a race would be held, we made every effort to have the cars prepared as they would be, had it been a race. Both Justin and Kevin put in some solid performances, with Justin fini shing the second days test in third position - the second row of the grid! This was a good indicator of how much we managed to get done at the test, and bodes well for the next race at Magny Cours in a weeks time. Kevin also managed to put in some fine laps, but was held up a lot by red flags and slower drivers. All in all, a very pleasing test."
