Frenchman Tom Dillmann in his Dallara F307 Volkswagen retook the championship lead after winning the ninth and tenth races of the ATS Formula 3 Cup at the Nurburgring. In both races which supported the Truck Grand Prix the Swede Felix Rosenqvist, also "powered by Volkswagen", took second place. The German Daniel Abt, currently second overall with a seven point deficit to Dillmann, took fifth and third.
Rene Rast retains championship lead
Volkswagen Junior Rene Rast maintained the championship lead despite scoring no points at his home race at the Hockenheimring in the Porsche Supercup. Rast, who started the race from fourth on the grid, ground to a halt with tyre failure after colliding with British title rival Nick Tandy on the first lap. In the championship Rast continues to lead the standings by 16 points after seven of ten races.

Podium positions for Volkswagen drivers in home event
Team Volkswagen BP Racing clinched two podium positions in the fifth round of the South African Rally Championship in Port Elisabeth. In the Volkswagen Rally the South Africans Enzo Kuun and Guy Hodgson celebrated second place in the Volkswagen Polo S2000 after narrowly missing victory by only 1.5 seconds. Third place went to their team mates Jan Habig and Ralph Pitchford. In the Volkswagen Rally 25 of the 42 competing teams reached the finish after eleven special stages.
