WATKINS GLEN INTERNATIONAL, NY, July 29-2001. Luciano Gomide (GOL-I.P.S.-Asia Express-Mazziottiwines.com/Eurointernational Dallara F300 VW) has continued his domination of the United States Formula 3 Championship winning the tenth race in a row at Watkins Glen International with his teammate John C. Antonino (GrapeKing-Arra-Uptown-Asia Express-Giumarra.com-RLC/Eurointernational Dallara F301VW) only 0.761"behind.

The Brazilian, even if in not perfect physical conditions, blistered his own F3 track record (1'48"141 Aug.26-2000) with an incredible 1'46"212, new open wheels track record for the 3.4 miles course, with only 9 laps of free practice, while rookie John C. Antonino used all laps possible for know the very challenging track, completing the third front row for EurointernationalJ, with 1'48"837.

Michael Brooks qualified third in front of Scott Brickey , Kyle Herder and Bruce Kafenbau.

After a yellow/green flag start, Luciano Gomide at the re-start jumped in front of the 15 cars-field with John Antonino behind his rear wing at less than 1 second. The Eurointernational duo distanced themselves from the rest if the field, beginning a terrific slipstreaming duel. Gomide and Antonino run each lap under the 2000 F3 fastest race lap (Gomide 1'48"141) starting lapping the field already at lap 7. Michael Brooks was running third just in front of Scott Brickey, Kyle Herder and Brian Pacelli.

Gomide remained for all 11 laps in front, with John C. Antonino in position to take the lead in a couple of situation while lapping back marker, and was forced by Antonino to run at the end a fantastic lap on 1'46"275, near identical to his pole time, when the Californian hot-shoes went down to his best 1'46"403. At the end Gomide head Antonino by only 0.761 seconds, controlling last slipstream of his teammate.

Michael Brooks crashed heavy with two laps to go, allowing Kyle Herder to take the third position.

USF3 will run round 4 at Mosport on August 19 on the ALMS week end, after having postponed the already scheduled race, on August 5, from Trois-Rivieres to St.Jovite-Quebec, on September 21-22
