FORMULA 3 PACE PLEASES BRATT ON TEST DEBUT

Single-seater racer Will Bratt made a superb impression on his Formula 3 test debut at Valencia in Spain today, Monday, 10th March, the 19-year-old concluding his first day of action in an F3 car an excellent third fastest overall.

Will, who lives in Banbury and reads History at Oxford University, is stepping up this year into the FIAT Spanish Formula 3 Championship with EmiliodeVillota.com Motorsport after three seasons in Formula Renault UK with the Apotex Scorpio Motorsport squad.

Today's outing saw Will lap within seven 10ths of a second of the top of the times and considering this was his first ever experience of a Dallara F3 car, Dunlop tyres and the famous Valencia track, he ended the test rightfully pleased with his progress.

"It's been a good day and I thoroughly enjoyed my first ever run in a Formula 3 car", said Will at the conclusion of the test, "We ended up third overall, about seven 10ths of a second off the outright pace, so I'm quite pleased with that.

"Everything has been new to me, the car, the tyres, the team and the circuit, so I think we've done a good job with so much to learn and take onboard. We began the day fairly steadily and then started to build up speed as the day progressed. I'm happy with how things have gone today and looking forward to making bigger gains tomorrow."

Will returns to the track in the morning, Tuesday, 11th March, for the second of his two test days at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia.

As far as the 2008 race calendar is concerned, the FIAT Spanish F3 Championship commences on 3rd/4th May at Jarama and then visits a further seven circuits during the course of the year including Formula One venues Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, Barcelona in Spain and Magny-Cours in France.

The true highlight of the Spanish F3 season will be when the championship supports the European Grand Prix on 23rd/24th August at the brand new, still undergoing construction, Valencia street circuit. Racing in front of the Formula One team bosses will be an incredible opportunity for Will and one he is seriously looking forward to.
