GUSTAVO YACAMAN WINS IN JEREZ

"Talented driver claims top step on podium"

The performance of the young Colombian was shining as Gustavo Yacaman scored his first victory in his Spanish Formula 3 career and in doing so, became the youngest driver in the history to take the checkers.

Looking to dominate the field at Jerez De la Frontera Circuit, Gustavo "Tigrillo" Yacaman did just that in the second of two feature events over the double race weekend format. With the race lasting just over 25 minutes, Yacaman took the lead on the opening lap and never looked back. Though his competitors chased him lap after lap, Yacaman took the win three tenths ahead of his nearest rival.

At the young age of 16 years and 8 months old, the former Snap-on Stars of Karting National Champion became the youngest driver in Spanish Formula 3 to claim a victory eclipsing Alvaro Parentes record of 17 years and 6 months.

"This was a very important race for us," exclaimed and excited Yacaman after the event. "We needed this to make sure we have a good run towards the end of the season. It will also help us gain momentum for next year where I will look to fight for the overall series title."

With the win, Yacaman catapults himself in to the top ten in the championship as he looks to repeat his success this weekend at the Montmelo Circuit in central Spain.
