LAURENS VANTHOOR TO RACE IN MACAU

HEUSDEN - ZOLDER - One day after his glorious win in the ATS Formula 3 Cup at Oschersleben (Germany), Laurens Vanthoor can officially announce his participation in the Macau Grand Prix. This spectacular event on the narrow streets of Macau will take place on November 13-16. The Volkswagen works driver will be racing in the 55th edition of the Macau Grand Prix with the Italian RC Motorsport squad, which races in the Formula 3 Euroseries with VW engines.

In Macau the best Formula 3 drivers from all over the world come together once a year to fight each other for what could be called the "World Championship of Formula 3". The Macau Formula 3 Grand Prix is a highly ranked motorsport event. This is the place where future Formula 1 championship surface. The 6.2 kilometer long circuit combines fast sweeping turns and slow hairpins through the streets of the small island on the South coast of the People's Republic of China. Taking advantage of technical knowledge and a well-considered, sometimes more patient, approach are the key to success at Macau. The 17-year old rookie, who made the step up from karting to Formula 3 this year, has already made name in the international motorsport scene. His victories at the Sachsenring and at Oschersleben in the ATS Formula 3 Cup made a big impression.

LAURENS VANTHOOR: "Macau will be a complete new experience for me. I was asked to take part in the event by Volkswagen and will grab the opportunity with both hands. The main reason to take part in the event is to get more international experience ahead of the upcoming season. Of course I want to enjoy the event and above all, I want to stay out of the wall."
