Callum Ilott dominated the final practice session for the Macau Grand Prix on Friday – setting a host of lap times that were the fastest of the event so far.

The Van Amersfoort driver moved to the top of the timesheets after 15 minutes, and was able to improve several times as drivers made their final preparations prior to final qualifying later in the afternoon.

Benefiting from a tow down the main straight shortly before the end of the session, Ilott’s best lap of 2m10.703s was exactly half a second faster than Motopark's Arjun Maini.

Japanese F3 champion Kenta Yamashita was third quickest, ahead of last year’s Macau winner Felix Rosenqvist and Sergio Sette Camara. Provisional pole position man Antonio Felix da Costa ended up seventh overall.

There were several incidents during the session – the biggest of which came right at the end as Ye Hong Li swiped the barriers in the mountain section and ended up with his car stranded sideways across the track.

Motopark’s Zhou Guan Yu arrived at the scene at full speed and, having spotted Li too late, he was unable to stop and clouted his rival's car – briefly tipping it on to its side before it came back down on its remaining wheels.

Hitech’s Nikita Mazepin was the next car on the scene but he was able to stop without hitting the other cars – although with the track blocked the session was red flagged and cut short with two minutes remaining.

Chang Wing Chung stopped at Lisboa early on, Daniel Ticktum hit the barriers at Maternity Bend and Sho Tsuboi clouted the wall at Lisboa.
