Sugo - Carlo van Dam has today won the seventeenth round of the 2008 Japanese Formula 3 Championship at Sugo, a track he races on for the first time this weekend. Carlo, who has already clinched the Japanese Formula 3 title, scored his eighth win of the year in style: he started from pole position in his Toyota Team TOM's Dallara, led from start to finish and set the fastest lap of the race. Tomorrow (Sunday) Carlo will again be on pole position at Sugo for the final round of the season. This Monday he will test a Formula Nippon car for Toyota Team TOM's at the same circuit.

"Things went well here during testing last Thursday already", says Carlo. "I like the circuit, there is no room for error. That worked out well, for in the last lap of the race I set fastest lap, which means an extra championship point. Of course I am happy that straight after winning the championship title we just keep on winning, which means we are not taking things easy and that even at this stage of the year we are still improving the car. Obviously, I will try and win the race again tomorrow, while I am also looking forward to Monday's run in the Formula Nippon. That is a serious racing car, comparable with GP2 in Europe. I will only do a two hour test, but I am curious about what will undoubtedly be an interesting experience."
