Zipoli wins the duel with Pablo Sanchez-Lopez
Piercarlo Ghinzani (Team Ghinzani, Team Principal):
"In the classification of race one, three foreign drivers are within the top four positions and we are proud that the only Italian, Salvatore Cicatelli belongs to the Filiera Piloti Italia. We obtained important points with both drivers who are growing up: without some small driving errors the could have obtained something more, but this is still a positive weekend for us".
Cristiano Giardina (RC Motorsport, Team Principal):
"Richelmi confirmed in this occasion too of being able to always aim at the podium: in classification he keeps the pace of the top drivers and if he had taken part to the first races, he would have probably been within the title fight. Buttarelli unfortunately suffered from some technical problems that prevented him to express his best".
Gabriele Lucidi (Lucidi Motors, Team Principal):
"Unfortunately, this is not a very lucky weekend for Campana and today, in race two, for the third weekend in a row, he has been victim of a contact that penalyzed him. It is still positive to have missed the fastest lap for six thousands only: the championship is still open but we will need to great performances at Vallelunga and Monza. Liberati lived his best Formula 3 weekend, harvesting five points, while Prandi, despite finishing the races, could not be in the top ten".
Fabio Pampado (RP Motorsport, Team Principal):
"This as been a bitter-sweet wekened. Bulnes has been great in racce two obtaining an eleventh place that is promising for the future. Fumanelli had some more difficulties: this is a shame since his performance on the single lap would have placed him comfortably within the top ten".
Angelo Corbetta (Corbetta Competizioni, Team Principal):
"Our outcome is positive in this weekend too. Cinti has been regularly in the points zone for six races now, a result confirming his growth; in the rookie's classification he is not third therefore we are optimist for the championship finale, which could award us with some new satisfactions after the podium at Varano".
Enrico Glorioso (Gloria Pro Team, Team Principal):
"Our drivers' lap times in race were not that far from those of the best drivers. Our real problem is qualifying whereby we cannot be as competitive and we end up compromising the whole weekend. Federico increased to three points his classification score but we aim at getting more important results."
Next round of the Italian Formula 3 championship is scheduled for 20 September at Vallelunga (Rome).
Great victory for Marco Zipoli (BVM-Target) in race two at Imola, after a thrilling duel with Pablo Sanchez-Lopez (Alan Racing Team) that inflamed the second part of the race. At their back Stephane Richelmi (RC Motorsport) under the chequered flag, followed by the classification leader Daniel Zampieri (BVM-Target).
Among the title contenders, sixth place for Daniel Campos-Hull (Prema Powerteam) while Sergio Campana (Lucidi Motors) has been forced to a pit-stop after a contact with an opponent causing a puncture on his Dallara.
Zampieri keeps the leadership with 127 points. Zipoli follows at 119, Campos-Hull and Sanchez-Lopez at 114; Campana slightly back on 102.
Alberto Locatelli (Alan Racing Team, Team Principal):
"We are really satisfied: we won at Misano but thanks to the inverted grid. Here we have been competitive since qualifying and Sanchez-Lopez won deservedly the main race whereby he set the fastest lap of the race too. His recovery in the second race proved that our Mygale was probably the fastest single seater of the weekend, a result which is merit of the great work done by the whole team in the last few months. I'd like to emphasize the importance of the development work done by Comi too, who sacrificed himself in more than one occasion to experiment some new technical solutions: we are very happy that in race one he centered the objective to be within the first ten".
Giuseppe Mazzotti (BVM-Target, Team Manager):
"This has been a double faced weekend. Zipoli has been amazing in race two, awarding our team with a new victory and strengthening his position in the classification. Zampieri's performance has been conditioned by a problem to the gearbox emerged in qualifying that prevented him to fight for front rows. His advantage in the championship is a bit reduced but I am sure that at Vallelunga he will not have problems to be again a protagonist".
Grazia Troncon (Prema Powerteam, Team Manager):
"After Saturday's pole position, the chances of a victory seemed concrete for us too. Even if we missed the victory, we come back from Imola with a classification gap reduced and with a championship really open, therefore our outcome is definitely positive. Unfortunately, Castellacci struggled more than expected in qualifying and this probably spoiled the outcome of his weekend".
