Bortolotti tastes the flavour of his first Formula 3 victory
After the double pole position in yesterday's qualifyings, Mirko Bortolotti keeps on ruling today as well at Mugello. He scored today his first victory in Formula 3, at his back Pablo Sanchez and Nicola de Marco. Fabrizio Crestani suffered a retirement instead, due to some technical problems, while Paolo Maria Nocera got off track due to an oil spot.
Race one results give a twist to the classification, with Bortolotti taking the lead with 64 points, clear of Marchese having 59 points and Crestani 48.
The second race is scheduled for this afternoon at 15.50 (local time).
"I' am on cloud nine, but I prefer keeping my feet down on earth! This is a very important day for me: I won my first Formula 3 race and I got the lead of the classification, but seven races are still to go and it is certainly too early to do any calculation for the title. I will set off from pole position in race two as well and I'd like to finish this weekend on the highest place of the podium again."
Pablo Sanchez Lopez
"I tried twice to attack Bortolotti, but the aereodynamic load on this track is quite important and being in the slipstream posed me a lot of problems. I was able to get him but I never had what is needed to overtake Bortolotti. I got some precious points for the championship and even without taking part to two races I am only 20 points adrift. They are not quite a few, but the gap is still bridgeable."
Nicola de Marco
"The setup of my single seater was not ideal and this made my race one tougher than expected. The podium is quite a good result and I am hopeful for a better race two."
