MONZA: CAMPANA'S VICTORY AND THE SECOND PLACE OF RICHELMI AWARD TEAM LUCIDI MOTORS WITH THE VICTORY IN THE TEAMS CLASSIFICATION
The Italian Formula 3 2010 Championship ends with two victories, a podium and the title in the teams trophy for team Lucidi Motors in the final round at Monza.
The weekend has been not very favourable to Stephane Richelmi, second at the eve and aspiring to score the final recovery that would have awarded him with the title. The driver from Monaco, author of the second time in qualifying (1'46.441), at turn one un-voluntarily had a contact with the single seater of Cesar Ramos, damaging his Dallara and being forced to the retirement. His performance was good in a fought race two that saw Richelmi crossing the finish line in second position.
Richelmi ended the season second in the absolute classification with 153 points, after setting a pole position and winning four times.
Very good success for Sergio Campana instead, sixth in qualifying on Saturday (1'47.236). The Italian driver has been the main protagonist of a thrilling race one, probably one of the nicest in the history of Formula 3, where he was triumphant at the end of a long threesome battle. Retirement for him in race two instead due to a contact with an opponent.
In the absolute classification Campana finished fifth with 114 points, having three victories and a fastest lap of the race on his pocket.
Good performance for Giammarco Raimondo too: the young Canadian was author of the tenth time in qualifying (1'47.937) and won rookies' race one thanks to the absolute sixth place. He also finished second in race two, eighth absolute. Raimondo obtained the third final place in the rookies classification with 135 points and finished sixteenth in the absolute classification at 14 points.
The weekend of Monza awarded team Lucidi Motoros with the victory of the teams Trophy with 195 points.
Gabriele Lucidi (Lucidi Motors, Team Principal):
"We lived another year as protagonists in the Italian Formula 3 Championship; we fought until the last race for the title in a really fought season. All our drivers got more than once on the highest step of the podium , considering also the success of Raimondo in the rookies': a result that fills us with satisfaction together with the victory of the teams title. My compliments go to Cesar Ramos and to team BVM-Target for the title obtained with merit throughout the season".
