Formula One test driver, Darren Manning, put the new Ralt Formula 3 car through its paces in Pembrey last week and declared himself impressed with it.

"It was great to get back into an F3 car after a couple of years. I had no pre-conceived ideas about the car, and was pleased how easy it was to drive. The best thing for me, and I am sure for Ralt as well, was with every change we made the car felt better and went faster, which is very important," said Darren, who is a test driver for British American Racing.

The car, the Ralt Mugen-Honda F302, was taken to the South Wales track for the second time last Wednesday (6th February) and ran faultlessly for 110 laps. The test was run by Nigel Clyde's Team Avanti, and Darren was able to continue the development work started by Andy Priaulx at the end of January.

The intensive test programme for the car continues this week with Andy back on duty on Wednesday before Team Avanti's 2002 driver, Matthew Gilmore, drives it for the first time on Thursday and Friday.
