PROMISING PODIUM FOR GRAY AT MALLALA
In her most promising round of the challenging season so far, Lauren Gray has walked away from Mallala on a high note finishing the weekend with a podium positions in the highly competitive National Class, within the Kumho Tyres Australian Formula 3 Championship.
Sporting a stunning new paint scheme that attracted plenty of attention in the paddock throughout the weekend, Gray was fully poised to bounce back and turn the attention to her on track performance after a frustrating last round at Phillip Island.
Lauren showed plenty of car speed all weekend, constantly matching her class rivals times and meeting her goal of staying consistent.
"After Friday practice it felt good to be back in the car after some weeks off," Gray said.
"Only a small amount of changes were made after practice 1 and 2. Once these changes were made I was very confident heading into qualifying on Saturday."
Gray scored a solid points haul from the weekend and therefore maintains her convincing second place in the National Class Championship, in which she drives the Scud Racing Dallara F301.
"The team and I were quite pleased with my qualifying results," Gray said.
"I knew that there was more in myself and after looking at the data with my engineer I also knew that there was more in the car too"
"A few more changes were made before race 2 and they proved to be worth while with one of by best performances to date."
Lauren Gray will next be in action when the Kumho Tyres Australian Formula 3 Championship head's to Sydney's Eastern Creek Raceway next weekend for Round 5 of the championship.
Gray is looking forward to another strong showing, rating Eastern Creek as her favourite circuit on the calendar as track in which she has enjoyed much success in both Formula 3 and Production Cars.
"I am definitely looking forward to Eastern Creek as my last result there was in the top 10 outright," Gray said.
"Eastern Creek is one of my favourite tracks and have always had good results there. Hopefully I can have some good results and decrease the gap between myself and Chris Barry."
Round five will be held between July 13 - 15 in Sydney.
