Zolder is the new appointment for the second meeting of the World Series by Nissan.
One year ago, 35,000 spectators attended the debut of the World Series by Nissan in Belgium. The local hero Bas Leinders, third in the overall and recently designed as the official third driver in the Minardi Cosworth F1 Team, was one of the main attractions for the local supporters. The Belgians, who had to miss their Formula One event due to the tobacco ban in that country, were delighted with two thrilling heats, having the opportunity to admire the Dallara single-seaters powered by Nissan.
Nevertheless, the home-based team KTR with Prosperus and Kurt Mollekens at command will be proud of represent the local colours with their drivers Bruce Jouanny and Didier Andre. The Belgians are third in the Team's standings.
This time, the World Series by Nissan program will display two races of the 2-liter category World Series Light.
After the first meeting at Jarama, were Enrique Bernoldi (GD Racing) took two victories, the Brazilian will step in Zolder as the provisional leader of these 450 Hp Series. Following closely, the Argentinean Juan Cruz is second, putting an impressive drive in both heats with the Gabord Competition Team. Former Champ Car driver Tiago Monteiro made a very respectable debut in the World Series with one podium position and finishing 6th in the second race. The Portuguese is third in the overall.
The French Team Paul Belmondo Racing made a promising debut placing Ryo Fukuda in the podium.
Top teams Gabord Competicion and Epsilon Euskadi will test at Valencia, RC Motorsport in Zolder.
Teams Gabord Competicion and Epsilon Euskadi will be developing some private tests tomorrow in Valencia. Both Teams will employ their official drivers. Gabord Competicion will be testing different set-ups and working closely with the British Ralph Firman hoping to complete a successful work. The same task for Vilariño and Ravier, who complained about the performance of the car after their poor results in Jarama.
Olivier Pla will be the single driver on duty for the private test scheduled by RC Motorsport in Zolder.
The rest of the Teams, including those for the World Series Light categories, will step in Zolder for the Collective Test organised on Thursday, the 22nd of April. As a remark, the Friday track activity will start only at 14.10 due of the noise ban imposed by the authorities in the area.
