Monteiro Wants To Reign in Estoril

The activity has re-started after the Sumer brake and seven teams of the World Series by Nissan will be visiting Estoril tomorrow, participating in a private test. It is the first visit of the Dallara Nissan Sn01 cars to the Estoril track. A land with a local hero: Tiago Monteiro.

BARCELONA, 8 SEPTEMBER 2004
Portugal will be the 6th European round of the World Series by Nissan calendar.

The Series are entering its second part of the season and so far, the three top drivers had been the strongest Title contenders. Enrique Bernoldi (GD Racing) was the first leader but he lost his leadership in Belgium on behalf of Tiago Monteiro (Carlin Motorsport). The Finnish Heikki Kovalainen (Pons Racing) took the lead in Valencia and recently putted in an impressive drive taking a double win in Germany.

Estoril (4,182 m) will be the scene of a double race and the Portuguese driver Tiago Monteiro is expected to step in the podium. Monteiro is living a very special moment after he completed a successful test in Vallelunga last week with the Minardi Cosworth. The driver has been invited to a next test in Misano, end of November.

Tiago is third in the provisional standings, behind the Brazilian driver Enrique Bernoldi (GD Racing) who has been announced as the new test driver for the BAR Honda Team. An excellent new that reopens Bernoldi's hope for a quick return to F-1, after completing two seasons in the World Series by Nissan.

With one victory and two second positions the French driver JC Ravier is as high as 4th in the standings. The Team Epsilon Euskadi organised a street exhibition in Bilbao during the local festivities of the town. The Team invited the F1 driver Marc Gene. The crowd gathered for the event was really enthusiastic. The Team proved that a street race in Bilbao could be a real success and a good business!

Tristan Gommendy (Saulnier Racing) lived a sweet and sour race weekend in Germany, but the Frenchman is really confident to progress in the remaining Season. Narain Kartikheyan suffered a lack of results in Germany. The team will be testing tomorrow with both drivers in order to step some positions in the standings.

A total of 7 Teams (Pons Racing, Carlin Motorsport, GD Racing, RC Motorsport, KTR, Gabord Reyco, Vergani Formula) will be participating tomorrow in a private test. KTR will test with the Toyota Atlantic driver Alex Garcia, .If the driver adapts well to the car the Belgian squad may line-up two cars in Estoril.

Celso Miguez goes for the lead the World Series Light

The Dallara AER 250 Hp car will race for the first time in Estoril. With only three meetings left, the fight for the Title is quite open. Pavlovic, in the lead, and Pellegrino, third in the provisional standings, even share the same garage in Vergani Formula. The Spaniard Celso Miguez climbed as high as second in Germany after taking a strong win in the first race and visiting the podium in the second one.

Bastien Briere will not continue in the Epsilon by Graff Team as he's contract finished after Germany. A driver's announcement is expected next week.
