Ultimate Look to Spa for Improved Performance
After the disappointments of Barcelona, Ultimate Motorsport head to Spa-Francorchamps, the home of the Belgian Grand Prix, for the next two races in the 2009 World Series by Renault on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 May.
Greg Mansell and Miguel Molina have both raced at Spa before, with the Spaniard taking two top ten finishes in the World Series last year and the 21-year-old Briton competing in the two British Formula 3 races held at Spa in 2007.
While the team and drivers left Barcelona without much joy, there were some positives to take into the next round. Miguel Molina had claimed pole position and set the fastest race lap of the weekend. Both cars were amongst the fastest in both qualifying and race trim and both drivers were able to overtake to move up the order during the races.
"We've been working hard since leaving Barcelona and we will be in a much stronger position in Belgium," said Team Manager Colin Morgan. "I've had the team practice the pitstop procedures in the factory to iron out any problems. The drivers did a brilliant job in Spain and, with Greg and Miguel both having previous experience of racing at Spa, we're very confident that we'll do a much better job next weekend."
Greg Mansell: "It will be nice to go back to somewhere that I know. It's a long time since I've driven there but it'll be good. This is my first year in the series and I'm learning along with the team. At Barcelona we gelled as a team and I'm sure we'll do a better job in Belgium."
Miguel Molina: "I know the Spa-Francorchamps track and it is a good place to do well at because I like the circuit. In Barcelona we had a good car in qualifying and in race distance. It also went well in the wet conditions during race 2, so I'm sure Spa will be much better for us."
Round 3 of the 2009 World Series by Renault take place on Saturday 2 May with Round 4 taking place on Sunday 3 May. Both races can be viewed live on Eurosport.
