Spa F3.5: Fittipaldi sets the pace in second qualifying
Pietro Fittipaldi took his third pole position in the fourth Formula V8 3.5 qualifying of the season, which sets the grid for Race 2 at Spa-Francorchamps.
Lotus driver Fittipaldi was fastest before the mid-session pitstops and improved by 1.7s to end up fastest at the end.
His 1m58.731s lap was fastest by more than two tenths, as teammate Rene Binder's late effort was only good enough for second.
The Austrian, as well as Fortec's Diego Menchaca, edged out Matevos Isaakyan, who was the leader before Fittipaldi set his benchmark.
Isaakyan will start fourth as a result, the same position he lost in first qualifying after being disqualified for not having enough fuel in his car.
Roy Nissany led RP Motorsport's three-car effort in fifth, ahead of Alfonso Celis, pole-sitter for the first race.
Seven-time F3.5 race winner Egor Orudzhev was seventh, the last driver to go below the two-minute barrier.
Damiano Fioravanti was eighth, more than a second slower than Orudzhev, as Teo Martin duo Konstantin Tereshchenko and Nelson Mason rounded out the top 10.
Yu Kanamaru and Giuseppe Cipriani rounded out the field.
