JAMES WALKER GUNNING FOR GOOD HOME RESULT
Jersey, UK: The World Series by Renault arrives at Silverstone this weekend for the sole UK round of the 2008 Championship. As the leading British driver, James Walker is looking forward to his home event, especially after the result he had at the UK round last year.
Last year's UK round was held at Donington Park in September and James won from pole position in the second of the weekend's two races. This time around the competition is as tough as ever but the Jersey-born racer goes to Silverstone riding high after a top result at Monaco last week, and is aiming to keep up the positive momentum.
James has always gone well at Silverstone and the Northamptonshire track is one of his favourites.
"Silverstone is a challenging track," said James. "It is a technical circuit but also physically hard due to some high speed corners. I love racing there as there is always an incredible atmosphere. The World Series events are always very well-attended so I expect there will be a fantastic buzz at Silverstone this weekend."
"I've never been more ready to win," he continued. "Everyone has been working so hard this year and I can feel it all coming together, so I'm hoping Silverstone can be as special as Donington was a year ago. I want to come away from Silverstone with a much improved championship position. Again I have a lot of support coming over from Jersey; I want to put on a good show for the home fans and I can't wait to see how it all pans out!"
After test sessions on Thursday and Friday, World Series qualifying takes place on Saturday morning before the first race begins at 1425hrs. The second Silverstone race takes place on Sunday at 1315hrs.
