Bonanomi collects podium finish at the Nurburgring

Marco Bonanomi and Comtec Racing entered the Nurburgring round of the World Series Renault with the clear intention of forgetting the bad break suffered in the fifth seasonal round at Budapest, where the team suddenly lost contact with the main rivals in the series. On the Hungarian Racetrack, Bonanomi ended up Race 1 in 5th place, and struggled over Race 2 to take the 13th spot. Fortunately, things proved to have radically improved at the Ring, where Marco kept the pace with the leading pack easily. When all came down to speed, he moved up the order to clinch 4th place in Qualifying, before fighting in a tight SuperPole session among an extremely competitive pack. While in second place, Marco committed a small mistake in an attempt to sweep pole, ending up in a spin and losing three spots to end up in 5th. On Race 1, the bad luck that's following him lately stroke again, when Charles Pic crashed on his back, ending his day when all seemed fine for a top-3 finish. On Race 2, Bonanomi started from row 3, keeping constantly between P3 and P5, where he ultimately took checkered, before being moved up to 4th following to Duran's disqualification. Marco will now have to stay focused and keep building momentum for the next round of the series, starting this weekend at Le Mans. The first practice sessions are scheduled for Thursday.
