WALKER RETURNS TO THE TRACK
Jersey, UK -- After a lengthy summer break the 2008 World Series by Renault gets back underway next week at the Nurburgring in Germany (30/31 August). This is a circuit that holds fond memories for James Walker as it is the scene of the Jersey racer's first F3 victory in 2005. He has come a long way since then and will be looking for another great result at the Nurburgring this time around.
James has had a busy few weeks; aside from the never-ending search for sponsorship he took time out to return to Jersey to take part in the annual 'Battle of the Flowers', an event that forms one of the highlights of the island's social calendar. He led off the daytime parade in his Formula Renault 3.5 car, providing a great show for the 30,000 spectators who had crammed onto the seafront to watch. James also took the lead in the special moonlight parade, rounding off a busy week that had seen him meet with many local dignitaries, business people and some of the children from Jersey's Kart Club.
"We had a great trip to Jersey last week," he said. "I think we made a lot of progress in many areas, but now I'm fully focused on the Nurburgring race. I'm really looking forward to going back there, especially as last year's race in Germany was tough as it was only mine and team's second ever World Series race. The car is working great now so I hope we can go there and push to be at the front."
The first of the two races in Germany is on Saturday afternoon at 1420hrs and race two takes place on Sunday, also at 1420hrs.
