Autosport Ranks McIntosh #1 in Formula Renault

Vancouver, Canada (November 17, 2005) -- While Sean McIntosh prepares himself to compete for Team Canada in this weekend's fifth round of the A1 Grand Prix of Nations in Malaysia, the 20-year-old's on-track achievements in the 2005 Formula Renault UK Championship have been highly recognized by the world-famous motorsport publication, Autosport.
The magazine's traditional review of the season lists Sean as the #1 ranked driver in the Formula Renault UK Championship having battled eventual champion Oliver Jarvis all the way to the final round of the 20-race series, the closest title fight in 16 years. McIntosh comfortably secured the Vice-Champion standing courtesy of five wins from eight podium finishes.
Promoted up three spots from his Autosport ranking in last year's Formula Renault review, when the young Canadian won the inaugural 'Graduate Cup' Championship for rookie drivers, this year Autosport described McIntosh as 'Perhaps naturally, the fastest driver in the field.'
In recognition of his success with Ian Barnwell's tightly-run Team Firstair organization, Autosport went on to state that even though Sean did not enjoy all of the experience and resources provided by the more established teams in Formula Renault UK, together he and Team Firstair had 'Proved that you don't need to be with a big team to win races.'
Following his two accomplished seasons in the Formula Renault UK Championship, and his immediate success in A1 Grand Prix, Sean now has his sights set for 2006 on the next step in Renault Sports' development ladder to Formula One -- the World Series by Renault.
On his return from this weekend's races in Malaysia Sean has a quick turnaround before heading to Valencia in Spain to test Comtec Racing's 425bhp Dallara-Renault, 22nd-23rd November. Sean is then scheduled to test again with Comtec at the second official World Series by Renault test, this time at the Paul Ricard circuit in France in early December.
