Fortec Motorsports' Oliver Rowland clinched pole for Race 1 in Hungary ahead of rookie Egor Orudzhev.
The British driver posted a time of 1'28:867 Saturday morning in the qualifying session for Race 1. The Racing Steps Foundation driver had a gap of 0.210 second from Arden Motorsport's Russian driver.
This was Rowland's second pole in row after Spa (Race 2). Behind the duo was Lotus F1 junior Matthieu Vaxiviere alongside Malaysian Jazeman Jaafar.
For much of the session Vaxiviere was at the top but aftre the tyre change and in the final ten-minute sprint, Rowland outpaced everyone.
Tom Dillmann completed the top five while Manor F1 driver Roberto Merhi qualified sixth ahead of Nicholas Latifi at seventh.
The top ten was rounded off by Pietro Fantin at eighth, Aurelien Panis at ninth and Tio Ellinas at tenth.
