Draco Racing and their drivers are still under the spotlight in Alcaniz. In the second day of the season’s first collective test, Pietro Fantin and Luca Ghiotto showed an amazing progression, improving their laptimes from yesterday by an hefty margin. Fantin, at his second season in F.Renault 3.5, was again a steady presence in the top 5, boasting an amazing consistency both on new and used tyres. Pietro was third fastest in the morning and fourth quickest in the afternoon, with a best laptime of 1’38”864 that was three tenths quicker that his benchmark from yesterday and just 0.3 adrift off today’s best performance overall. Ghiotto made some impressive steps forward too: just shy of the top ten in the afternoon session, the 19-year old Italian talent shaved four tenths off his laptime from yesterday, posting a 1’39”249 and keeping to improve his confidence with the car.

“I’m really happy with our performances, we still lack something to get to the very top of the timesheet but I really have to praise the team for the amazing job we are doing together. Since the test started we were steadily worth the top five, both on new and used rubber, so we’re definitely quick. We just need to get rid of some oversteer, because it’s slowing me down a bit in sector one. Once that will be sorted, the car will be perfect”.

Luca Ghiotto: S1 – P14; S2 – P11
“I’m much more satisfied than yesterday, because the work I’m doing with the team has started to pay off, especially in terms of pace. I’m going quicker with less effort, and that clearly proves that we are heading in the right direction. Still, there’s room for improvement: on one side I can still improve my understanding of the car, and on the other hand there’s still some work to do on the setup to make it suit my driving style. There’s definitely more to come”.
