"A week-end to remember"
The Donington round gave great satisfaction to Draco Team, which collected success in both races thanks to the fantastic victory of Markus Winkelhock and Christian Montanari's second place.
In the first challenge of the week-end, S.Marino's driver was engaged in an exciting duel with Kubica, who shadowed him. Montanari was able to control his opponent keeping the second place till the end. After the Montecarlo's victory, he can now celebrate his second seasonal podium.
Also Markus Winkelhock made a good race, finishing fifth after a solid recovery from the fourth row.
In the second race, Draco Team could have taken a memorable one-two. At the start, Montanari gained the lead immediately, but, on the opening bend, Van Lagen touched him. So the safetycar came out. At the restart, Markus Winkelhock launched his attack: with a perfect strategy and a quick pit stop, German driver recovered from 10th on the grid to claim the victory. Christian Montanari, who had regained the track after the accident, finished fifteenth.
Christian Montanari, Draco Driver: "I'm happy, another podium after Montecarlo. I made a good first race and I could have made the same in the second, but Van Lagen touched me.... Markus and me, we had a perfect car and a winning strategy, we could have scored a fine one-two for our Team. It's a pity."
Markus Winkelhock, Draco Driver: "It has been a fantastic week-end. Friday, when I made the third best lap in the free practice, I knew that in the races I could go fast, but I was unhappy with my qualifying position. In the Race 2, I started from the tenth place, but my car, the strategy and the pit-stop were perfect...so I made a great recovery. I'm very satisfied. I want to thank all my Team, which has made a very good job."
