The Circuito of Catalunya welcomes the World Series by Nissan. The single-seater competition will start a new era in 2005, but it will leave in Catalunya a three-year history full of good memories. The Dallara Nissan cars are the fastest single seaters in Barcelona, after Formula One.
Barcelona, 30 September 2004 - The Dallara Nissan SN01 (450 Hp), equipped with F-1 technology and faster enough to beat any lap record besides F1, will visit Catalunya. The World Series Light and the Formula Junior Category will enhance a full single seater weekend. Only for formula fanatics.
Heikki Kovalainen is the current leader and races "at home" with Pons Racing. The Finnish driver is in return after three days of F1 testing with his "other "team, RenaultF1. " It's been my very first real test. We have been concentrated in two different programs. Flying Lap! It will be only in Barcelona
Exceptionally, the drivers of the World Series by Nissan, will experience the same qualifying system of the current F-1 drivers. During the first session, each driver will carry out a single timed lap starting in the order of the current provisional standings. The running order for the second qualifying practice will be determined by the times achieved in the first practice with the slowest driver going first.
Pit Stop and F1 drivers, the show in on the track
The biggest attraction of the World Series by Nissan is its compulsory pit-stop during the long race. Drivers are allowed to pit and change to tyres, without refuelling. The top three drivers in this Series are current F1 test drivers. Kovalainen (Renault). Monteiro (Minardi) and Bernoldi (Bar) will be joining the GP track, but this time it will be for the battle in the WS.
The best Spanish racing generation is to arrive
A double race of the World Series Light and Formula Junior will be also contested in Catalunya. In the Lights Series, Milos Pavlovic's leadership seems to be unbeaten, race after race. In the Junior category,
15-year old contenders Daniel Clos and Miguel Molina represent the very best of a coming soon Spanish generation. The Series takes the restart with Barba, Llobell and Herck in a "serious" fight for the Championship. But, surely Clos and Molina will be not alone next year.
