Matteo Pellegrino is Already Fast During the Free Practice Session.
The World Series Light free practice sessions have just ended on the Spanish track of Montemelò. The Spanish track will be hosting s the second last round of the series this weekend.
Matteo Pellegrino immediately picked up the pace and finished in first place during the first session. Had Matteo not have had an electrical problem that penalized his fastest laps during the 2 session, he would have surely gotten the first place again. Thanks to his victory in Etoril, Matteo Pellegrino is in second place on the overall classification, right behind the leader Milos Pavlovic. Celso Miguez and Simon Abadie are a few points behind Pellegrino and this makes these 2 Spanish rounds all the more determining. This round will outline the general classification in sight of the last round of the Series in Valencia on October 17th.
This weekend's programme includes 2 qualifying sessions on Saturday and 2 races on Sunday (Race 1 at 9:00, race 2 at 13:15).
"I'm rather satisfied with how things went today with the free practice sessions. I was one of the first drivers to get on track this morning and I immediately realized that I was able to go very fast. e immediately found the right balance both with the old and new tyres. In fact, I was first this morning. In the afternoon, my performance was influenced by an electrical problem that took away some of the engine's power.
We'll be analyzing the telemetric data to try to understand how much time I lost during my fast laps but the technicians are already working on solving the problem. It's a pity that this happened when I was setting very fast times. In any case, I have confidence on how things will turn out tomorrow. To start on the front grid is always important but in these rounds, it's crucial."
