AVF and Pic clinch top ten finish in Race 1 at Paul Ricard

The spanish team managed by Adrian Valles started their day with a difficult Qualifying session.

The second day of F.Renault 3.5 running in Le Castellet, the renowned French track where the series is holding the eight round of the 2013 season, was quite an eventful one for AVF.

The spanish team managed by Adrian Valles started their day with a difficult Qualifying session that saw Arthur Pic end with the 12th quickest time and Yann Cunha struggle for pace and close in P25.

In the afternoon, anyway, both AVF cars boasted a good recovery: thanks to a great start Pic closed the first lap in P6, and then battled fiercely till the end of the race to take the flag in P7 despite some tyre wear issues. Cunha's start was even more stunning, as it allowed the Brazilian driver to jump from P25 to P16.

The rest of the race saw Yann lap on a very good pace until his rear tyres started letting go, forcing him to slow down. Unluckily, later into the race oversteer became a too much of an issue, and Yann spun and retired from the race.

Arthur Pic (Q1 - P12; R1 - P7): "Our day didn't start too well, in Qualifying the car was quick but we didn't manage to put the sectors together when our tyres peaked. Anyway I knew that in the race I was going to be fast, so I did my best to recover. The start was great and so were the first laps, but then before mid-race the rear end of my car started moving a lot, and I lost one place".

Yann Cunha (Q1 - P25; R1 – DNF): "Qualifying was really difficult, but in the Race I made up for that with a stunning first lap. I was quick at the beginning, but then I started to suffer from oversteer very early into the race, and on lap 20 I just lost control and spun".
