Spielberg, September 11th 2003 The A1-Ring Circuit welcomes today 9 teams from the Superfund World Series by Nissan. The Dallara Nissan cars will step in the track tomorrow all day long developing some private test programs. Next week, (20-21 September) Europe's most exciting single-seater competition after Formula One will celebrate here its sixth meeting, including two new races of the World Series Light category, gathering more than 30 drivers representing 13 nationalities.
The Superfund World Series by Nissan is sponsored by a fund company, member of Quadriga, whose headquarters are based in the Capital of Austria, Wien. Also, Superfund is the main sponsor of the local team, Zele-Racing, which includes the Austrian driver Norbert Siedler, and sponsors as well the young Austrian driver Mathias Lauda.
The expectation of the arrival of the Superfund World Series by Nissan is huge. The A1-Ring will be not included in the Formula One calendar next year due to the Tobacco ban. This will be a great opportunity for the local crowd to chill the drivers and enjoy with powerful sound of the Nissan V6 engines and the great spectacle of these F1'sized cars.
Very few teams had the opportunity to do some private testing during the summer brake within the Superfund World Series by Nissan. Last weekend saw some activity concentrated among the Circuits of Catalunya and Valencia (Spain), but mostly was regarding the World Series Light Teams participating in the Collective Test. The Young Mathias Lauda tested the V6 car in Valencia, while Enrique Bernoldi had his first contact with the Dallara Nissan SN01 after going through a small surgery last August.
MONTAGNY TAKES DOUBLE TASK
Adrian Campos Motorsport and Gabord Competition will not arrive at Austria until the next week.
The Series leader, Franck Montagny (Gabord), with 171 points, has open a serious gap between the rest of the contenders. The Tata Team Carlin, Indian Narain Kartikheyan is second with 80 points, followed by another Gabord driver, Heikki Kovalainen, with 75 points.
Franck Montagny, who's also the test driver of RenaultF1, will be testing with the French team in Barcelona for two days (16-17 September).
Two World Series teams had end up relationship in a nice way with one of their drivers (Carlos Pereira, RC, and Tuka Rocha, Zele). The two teams had open talks with some drivers but for the moment no announcement has been made.
It is time for the Superfund Zele Racing team to achieve another good result in their home race with the also local young driver Norbert Siedler. The Team knows very well this track located in Spielberg, 4,326 meters long. The Circuit demands a hard work on the chassis, and is famous for its majestic corners and high-speed sweeps.
WSL, YOUNG TALENTS AT SIGHT!
The newest one-make single-seater International series in the World features a Dallara AER car with 250 HP and Michelin tyres. Open to all the young already made drivers in Europe and overseas, coming from any single-seater category. By the moment, among the thirteen entered drivers, some talent searchers had already discovered the newcoming Alonso's. 17-year old Adrian Valles has taken a serious lead after the first three meetings, although he was certainly unlucky in Magny Cours. The category is regarded as a real brew of talents, like Pablo Donoso, Juan Cruz Alvarez, Matteo Pellegrino, Milos Pavlovic or Mathias Lauda.
