Amazing recovery for Draco Racing's Negrão in Spielberg

An unbelievable recovery drive by André Negrão was the highlight of Draco’s Saturday in Spielberg, where F.Renault 3.5 is holding the sixth round of the championship.

He was in contention for sixth place when a risky manoeuvre by a rival forced him onto the grass, but he still crossed the line in 9th place, 10 places higher than his starting position. After suffering from the same lack of grip that had slowed Negrão, Muller had closed qualifying in 14th place, but in the race he managed to climb as high as P8. Unluckily, his car was affected by some mechanical glitches that demoted him to P13.

André Negrão (Q1 - P19; R1 - P9): "It was such a fun race, I really enjoyed overtaking that many cars. Our pace was much better compared to yesterday and this morning, grip was finally there and it made a huge difference, from the very first laps.

At the start I passed at least seven cars, and then in the race I could make a difference too, as I quickly got behind Da Costa and Buller who were fighting for P7. I had just passed Antonio with a great manoeuvre on the outside when I realized that Will had done the same on the inside and his line was bringing him straight in my right sidepod.

I had no other choice that going wide on the grass, but I had to control a snap oversteer as a consequence and I lost an awful lot of time. Anyway P9 is a positive result, and our pace bodes well for tomorrow".

Nico Muller (Q1 - P14; R1 - P13): "I had such a good getaway, at the exit of Turn 1 I was P8 already, but then I went wide in the Turn 3-4 complex and Sirotkin and Buller managed to slip by. From then on it was a difficult race because my DRS wasn't working properly and late into the race I experienced some gearbox glitches too.

It was a pity because the car's pace was finally good, and a good result was in our reach. Still, we have another day to bag a good result and our performances should allow it".
