BRATT SECURES SECOND ROW START IN MARRAKECH

Banbury's Will Bratt produced an excellent performance during FIA Formula 2 Championship qualifying at the Marrakech Street Circuit in Morocco this evening, Friday, 30th April, to secure a second row start for the first of the weekend's two races.

During an ultra-competitive 30-minute session, the 22-year-old category front-runner challenged hard for pole position and in the end recorded the fourth fastest time of 1m32.854 seconds -- just 0.001 seconds shy of the top three and a mere 0.018 seconds away from the front row. Marking his best qualifying performance of the season, Will is aiming for his debut F2 podium finish tomorrow.

"I'm pleased to be on the second row but also a bit frustrated as it was so close and we could easily have been on the front row", he said, "We're making progress though and fourth on the grid is a pretty good position to start the first race from. We definitely have the pace to challenge for our first podium tomorrow, it should be an action-packed race."

Will's Marrakech adventure actually started on Thursday when he took part in a spectacular F2 demonstration on the streets of the North African city along with fellow Briton Jack Clarke. "It was pretty wild", reflected Will, "It's always great to come out and have some fun with the crowd and it really built the anticipation ahead of the weekend."

Not only is this the category's first ever visit to Morocco, rounds three and four of the 2010 FIA Formula 2 Championship will be the first international single-seater races to have been staged in the country since the 1958 Formula One Grand Prix.

The first race of the weekend will get underway at approximately 11.15 tomorrow, Saturday, 1st May, with the round four qualifying session following at 17.00. Race two will then take place at 12.05 on Sunday, 2nd May.

Television coverage of both encounters will be screened by digital satellite and cable broadcaster British Eurosport -- please check listings for full details. The action can also be followed online at www.formulatwo.com
