Mercedes Formula 1 driver Valtteri Bottas’s driving is analysed in unique detail thanks to the latest video from Motorsport TV’s weekly programme The Flying Lap.

Thanks to four cameras mounted in his AMG Mercedes C63, renowned driver coach Rob Wilson is able to examine the Finn’s driving style in never-before seen detail.

Wilson immediately picks up on the way Bottas comes off the brake as he enters corners, sometimes to perfection, sometimes less effectively – and suggests the kinds  types of car characteristics that might make life more difficult for Bottas compared to team-mate Lewis Hamilton.

“He is constantly, just slowly coming off in a very subtle fashion,” says Wilson of the way Bottas eases off the brake pedal on turn-in.

“[That] makes a huge difference rather than just coming off it too suddenly and taking the weight off the nose or staying on it and locking up.”
