Saudi Arabian GP review | Face2Face: Mercedes vs Red Bull
The first Saudi Arabia GP has been pretty hectic and the Red Bull and Mercedes bosses know this quite well, having endured all 50 laps.
The 2021 Abu Dhabi layout loses two second gear chicanes depriving Red Bull of a competitive advantage on slower sections over Mercedes, exactly where the RB16B chassis has always made the difference.
In Abu Dhabi, Mercedes has the most difficult task of the season. From a W12 that has now reached the limit of development, it is necessary to extract the maximum potential to maintain that slight advantage that from 3 races allowed Hamilton to eliminate the deficit in the standings.
The 2022 single-seater had an unusual planning stage. The first concepts of the ground effect cars started in 2019 but due to Covid they were suspended later in March.
Ferrari raises the bar for next season and the Maranello squad is now ready to face the new ground effect cars challenge thanks to an accurate working schedule.
