Yuki Tsunoda has lifted the lid on his love for anime after he was asked about his watching habits ahead of the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix. The Japanese Formula 1 driver was visibly happy to be asked a question on a topic outside of racing.
"Thank you! Finally, the nice fresh question," he said. "I like One Piece and One-Punch Man, recently watching Black Clover and Demon Slayer.”
Tsunoda continued, adding that due to the travel demands of the modern F1 season and the resulting downtime during long-haul flights, he's had plenty of time to dive into these popular series.
Each of the titles he mentioned sits firmly within the mainstream of modern anime. One Piece, Eiichiro Oda’s long-running pirate saga, remains one of the highest-selling manga and anime franchises in the genre's history, and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has become a global phenomenon recently, with the movie Infinity Castle seeing huge box-office success.
Tsunoda isn't the only Red Bull driver to share his love for anime, with his Racing Bulls' team-mate Isack Hadjar also speaking about his love for the genre earlier this year.
"It's something I do really like since I was a kid," he told Sky Sports F1. "All the ones [manga] I bought, I bought them in Japan. I never bought one in France.
"This is my stuff," he said, pointing to Hunter x Hunter manga as he discussed his love for the genre with Rachel Brookes.

Tsunoda had a successful FP1 under the lights of Sin City as he made a rare appearance ahead of the reigning champion, finishing third behind Ferrari's Charles Leclerc and Williams' Alex Albon. Despite this, the driver shared his concerns about his seat earlier this week.
"I'll do as much as I can in that, whether helping Max or the constructors'. I think, anyway, being in qualifying as close as possible to Max is probably the main thing. That's what I have to do. I think, for example, in Mexico, in the race, started P11 or P10, I was able to help Max a little bit as well. So I think I'll just keep doing what I'm doing. Ideally, even closer probably."
Tsunoda sits 17th in the drivers' standings while Verstappen sits third.
