"Last weekend was promising..."

KL Minardi Asiatech driver Alex Yoong can be satisfied with his return performance over the Italian GP weekend even though he would have wished for a better qualifying session.

Both the Friday and Saturday free practices went well for Yoong as he was pushing team-mate Mark Webber somewhat more than previously. Qualifying proved to be frustrating for Yoong due to the loss of two timed laps as a result of red flags, but nevertheless he was in for the race.

In the race Yoong was running strongly keeping Jordan's Takuma Sato behind him but was hampered by a strange software glitch which held him up for five laps in the pits during his stop and was pleased to finish 13th eventually.

Yoong posted an 18th fastest race laptime of 1:27.401 which was only 3.744s off Rubens Barrichello's fastest race lap of the day at 1:23.657 and three tenths of a second off Webber's fastest race time of 1:27.104.

"I am very happy to be back and enjoyed the race pretty much, except for the pit-stop." said Yoong after the race. "Last weekend was promising and I am looking forward to the last two GPs where I hope to put more pressure on my team-mate, Mark."
