Jaguar joined the test session at Valencia today where the tack temperature was again a high 35-40C and conditions were dry and sunny. McLaren test driver Alex Wurz topped the times in the modified MP4-16 with a best of 1:11.532 over 90 laps while driver David Coulthard was fifth fastest. Coulthard bought out the red flags at one point when his MP4-17 stopped at the end of the pit straight.

Felipe Massa was second fastest for Sauber, working on launch control and testing different Bridgestone compounds. Jacky Eeckelaert, Sauber's head of vehicle engineering was satisfied with the results of the session. Nick Heidfeld will take over tomorrow.

Williams tester Antonio Pizzonia was third quickest in the FW24; Tim Newton, the test team manager said they hadn't had a great day. "A somewhat disappointing day clocking up only 31 laps. We were unable to work through all the tasks we set ourselves but hope for a better day tomorrow."

Pedro de la Rosa sat the fourth time for Jaguar and team mate Eddie Irvine rounded up the bottom of the time with a 1:14.432. Both drivers worked on aerodynamic set-up for the nest race in Austria.

Jarno Trulli and test driver Fernando Alonso were on track for Renault, working on traction control and engine modifications. The red flags were out for Trulli who twice experienced engine problems but the Italian said his morning had gone very well before the problems.
