Justin Wilson will follow in the footsteps of previous Minardi drivers Fernando Alonso and Mark Webber by moving on to another team after an introductory year with the little squad. The Englishman has been noted for his strong starts and good performances despite not having much time in the car. Minardi rarely tests, not having the financial resources of other teams, but Wilson has made the most of the races so far to showcase his talents.

"Justin will be in F1 next year but not with us," Minardi boss Paul Stoddart told the UK's Daily Express newspaper. "He has made a lot of people sit up and take notice with his driving and he is going to give us the hat-trick of guys who have done the business with Minardi then moved on to greater things."

Stoddart rues the fact that he's yet to retain the services of one of the new talents who have started with Minardi but is happy for their successes. "One day I hope we will be able to keeps stars like these, but not yet," he said.

"I know what is going on (with Wilson) and I am really pleased. When everyone else was hanging back wondering if his height was a problem, we moved in, showed faith, and he has given a lot in return."

It was not confirmed which team Wilson is heading to for 2004 but his manager said earlier this year he was in talks with several people. Jaguar appears to be the most likely but for the moment neither Wilson nor Minard are ready to reveal his destination.
