On the penultimate day of the BMW WilliamsF1 Team's testing programme, Nick Heidfeld and Antonio Pizzonia experienced their first head-to-head test in 2005. Under blue skies and temperatures reaching 17°C, both Nick and Antonio focused on the preparation work for the 2005 season rather than worrying about lap times.

Nick conducted further tyre evaluation tests with the team's tyre partner, Michelin, and worked on the engine mapping and the set-up of the interim WilliamsF1 BMW FW26. The German covered a total mileage of 144 laps, more than any other driver, and set a lap time of 1:17.039 minutes.

Antonio completed a different programme to his team-mate. The Brazilian covered 95 laps and evaluated break ducts, traction control configurations as well as cooling systems. He set a personal best time of 1:17.177 minutes.

Both Antonio and Nick executed several practice starts and will continue their testing duties tomorrow, on the last day of this week's tests at Jerez.

Tim Newton (Test Team Manager, WilliamsF1):

"We had a much more productive session today, the penultimate of this week's test. Antonio spent the majority of the day evaluating various new systems on the interim FW26. Nick Heidfeld returned to the track today and worked on different set-up options on the car. Both drivers also carried out tyre testing for Michelin."
