The BMW WilliamsF1 Team commenced testing at Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, today with Marc Gené working on tyres and Antonio Pizzonia focusing on set-ups.

Sunny conditions, with temperatures rising to 33 degrees (air) and 51 degrees (track), made for a productive first day of testing for the BMW WilliamsF1 Team at the Spanish race track in Jerez de la Frontera.

Marc Gené and Antonio Pizzonia had a pair of WilliamsF1 BMW FW26s at their disposal. Marc completed a total of 91 laps and posted a fastest lap of 1:17.951m, while Antonio lapped the circuit 69 times posting a best time of 1:19.869m.

Today's schedule included preparations for the forthcoming Grands Prix of France and Great Britain. Marc focused on set-up options and tyre evaluation runs for the BMW WilliamsF1 Team's tyre partner Michelin, while Antonio spent the day developing software components.

Tim Newton (Test Team Manager, WilliamsF1):

"We had a fairly productive session today, our first day back at Jerez. Antonio Pizzonia, deputising for Ralf while he recuperates from his accident in Indianapolis, spent the day developing software on the FW26 while Marc Gené concentrated on set-up work and tyre testing."
