Frank Williams has admitted that the FW25 is not as strong as the team would have hoped in the way of aerodynamics and perhaps the risks taken in development were a bit too adventurous. Ralf Schumacher recently voiced an opinion that the new car simply wasn't fast enough and Williams agreed there was room for improvement.

"We are not too strong at the moment," the team boss told Autosport. "In very simple terms, it is a much better car, it is smaller and lighter and, as the drivers say, it turns in much better, but it is presently behind on aero, and presently is a word with emphasis."

"We started a bit late and we proceeded with one development part which didn't work, so we went backwards and that was the risk we took. It was a little bit adventurous for us maybe."

Williams' emphasis on the problems being current, rather than long term, means that he is not writing off chances of fighting for victory: "Not yet, absolutely not yet," he stressed of not giving up on challenging the front runners. "With the grids being jumbled up anything can happen. I think McLaren and Ferrari will be at the front most of the time, but you never know."
