The BMW WilliamsF1 Team concluded their week at Barcelona with a concentrated period of wet weather tyre testing today, artificially soaking the circuit to simulate conditions for wet weather tyres in the morning and intermediate tyres in the afternoon. Marc Gene, the Catalan Rocket, completed a further 85 laps today

Marc Gene

"Knowing this area as I do, I thought today's logistics were remarkable. It is not easy to create the conditions for a proper wet test in Spain in July, so I have to congratulate the team, Michelin and the circuit in simulating wet weather conditions today.. Overall we have had a good week, and I'd hope some improvements will show on the car as soon as Silverstone. We've done plenty of miles here, and it is great that the team are working me hard - it helps to keep me sharp!"

Tim Newton (Test Team Manager)

"We've managed to record 1,400km this week, and aside from today's wet weather tyre testing, we have conducted a really useful mixed test and come away with new information about the traction control system, the engine and the chassis. All in all, it's been an productive week, and should pay dividends on the race track."

Dr Mario Theissen (BMW Motorsport Director)

"It's been a trouble-free, straightfoward day of testing. There was no significant engine work conducted today, it was really a case of supporting the important tyre testing work."
