Mark Webber could lose the two points he gained at the Brazilian Grand Prix if the FIA decide that Giancarlo Fisichella was the winner. An announcement is expected today to clear up the confusion as to who actually won the race, Fisichella or McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen.

Evidence pointing to the Jordan driver having started his 56th lap looks likely to award Fisichella the win, in which case Webber will lose out, as the result will stand from the 54th lap.

"It will be disappointing if the FIA decides to overturn the original race result but that's the price you pay for making a mistake," Webber told the Jaguar website. "It would be a bit of a shame but not the end of the world because there are a lot of positives to take out of the weekend."

If Webber is stripped of his points, he thinks the decision is a strange one but will not begrudge Fisichella the victory: "Personally, I think that Giancarlo might be awarded the victory and I'll be happy for him because he's a good friend of mine," he said.

"I really don't know how the leaders could have done two laps after the race was flagged but we'll just have to leave it up to the decision makers. It does seem strange to me."
