Jaguar's Mark Webber apologised to Fernando Alonso after the Bahrian Grand Prix for some rather erratic blocking moves on the Renault. Alonso was trying to over take the Jaguar but Webber, confused by different instructions from blue flags and his team, slowed abruptly but then sped up again.

Alonso was not impressed and employed some agitated hand signals as the pair battled for eighth place. Some wondered if the Australian was brake-testing Alonso but Webber claims it was just a misunderstanding. He wasn't sure if it was Alonso behind him or the Spaniard's teammate Jarno Trulli, who was ahead of the pair in fourth place.

He slowed to let the Renault past but Jaguar immediately told him to step on it, as was Alonso. "Fernando must have thought I was really screwing him but I had two lots of different information coming at me at the same time," said Webber.

"The blue flag and the team screaming at me that I was racing for position. So one moment I was slowing down to let him pass me at a difficult spot, the next moment I was racing him. I apologised to him afterwards."

Alonso finally finished sixth and Webber eighth. "Quite honestly, I was very surprised by how some cars were being driven," Fernando commented immediately after the race. "Some other drivers were a little too difficult to overtake."
