Jacques Villeneuve will not be returning to CART next year said his manager Craig Pollock, in reaction to recent rumours. CART's Team Players' boss Gerry Forsythe said last weekend that he was looking at the possibility of running three cars next year and was after a driver with star power: "I believe there's a former CART champion who fits that description." Forsythe commented.

He added that Villeneuve would be "a good candidate" which promptly sent the rumour mill into over-drive. Pollock has been striving to put other gossip that Villeneuve would be leaving BAR to rest and now he's spoken out about this latest outbreak of speculation.

"Jacques is in F1; he has his contract in F1 and has no intention of doing anything else," Pollock told the BBC. "To take a Formula One world champion to Cart would cost an absolute fortune. Why would he do it? You're finishing your career."

The situation with Villenueve and BAR has yet to be resolved but Pollock said it would take an awful lot to tempt the Canadian away from Formula One and back to CART: "It would take something incredible," he added. "A lot more than he is earning at the moment."
