Vettel turns down Rosberg's invitation

Sebastian Vettel has turned down Nico Rosberg's invitation to attend a Mercedes debrief during the Malaysian Grand Prix.

The Ferrari and Mercedes drivers had joked about the invite during the post-race press conference in Australia, with Vettel suggesting the German squad should invite the paddock to its debrief to help rivals catch up with the dominant team.

Rosberg followed up by officially inviting Vettel via Twitter to the debrief on Friday at Sepang.

But Vettel said on Thursday he will not attend, saying the joke has transformed into a PR stunt.

"I think when I was joking with Nico in the press conference the deal was the invite was for all the paddock," said Vettel ahead of the Malaysian Grand Prix.

"Now it seems the invite shrunk to just me.

"Initially I think he was told off by Niki [Lauda] and Toto [Wolff], and now he's been told yes, so I think they are using it as a PR thing more than a proper invite, so the answer is no."
