Valtteri Bottas picks up ultra-rare £1.5 million Alfa Romeo hypercar in Monaco

Valtteri Bottas has taken delivery of a rare £1.5 million Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale in Monaco, having helped develop the hypercar following his close ties with the brand

Formula 1 driver Valtteri Bottas was spotted driving a brand new Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale after picking the car up from a dealership in Monaco. This Italian hypercar from the brand is understood to cost around £1.5million and is incredibly rare.

The 2025 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale is the halo car of the Italian brand. With only 33 ever built, the car is built by hand in celebration of the iconic 1967 33 Stradale, still regarded as being one of the most beautiful cars ever built for the road.  Unsurprisingly, each of these cars has now been sold, and with Bottas's close ties to Alfa Romeo - having driven under the brand since 2022 until it left F1 and helping develop this car for the road - it's no surprise that the fan-favourite driver has got his hands on one.

Boasting a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine largely derived from this car's twin, the Maserati MC20, it produces 620 horsepower and accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in as little as 3 seconds and will hit a top speed of 207 mph. While the car is more than capable, it lives more to be looked at with its design stemming from the marque's Bottega programme.

Butterfly doors that swing upward and outward add to the drama of the machine, and its low-slung and curvaceous bodywork mirrors that of the original car, albeit larger and with added modern features such as LED lights. As you'd expect, the car can be customised to the owner's liking beyond its standard features.

Bottas now owns a number of incredible cars, including the Mercedes-AMG One (valued at £2.5million), Ferrari F8 Tributo, Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series, and several others. He's been waiting over half a year to get his hands on this one.

“The opportunity to test the 33 Stradale was a very special moment," Bottas said at the end of 2024 in a press release from the brand. "I hope my feedback can be useful to the experienced Alfa Romeo development team for the final tuning. Configuring my personal car with the 'bottega Alfa Romeo' was engaging and exciting, and testing it today was really exciting. All I have to do is wait for my 33 Stradale to be ready!

"I am extremely satisfied with the testing. Today's experience is close to perfection, which for me means total symbiosis with the car. The car immediately puts you at ease: extremely responsive, precise. The feeling with the car is immediate, extremely easy and fun to understand, and you certainly don't need to be an F1 driver to experience it. In addition, its sound envelops the passenger compartment and is unmistakably Alfa Romeo."
