Twelve drivers took part in today's test session in Spain with the weather showery early on but clearing in the afternoon. McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen once again topped the time sheets, clocking a fastest of 1:12.453 over 48 laps of the Valencia circuit. Williams' Juan Pablo Montoya was second fastest, over two tenths of a second behind Raikkonen, completing 60 laps. McLaren test driver Alex Wurz set the third fastest time.

Felipe Massa took over test duties for Sauber and was fourth quickest, the Brazilian running a successful programme including Bridgestone tyre tests. Jordan's Giancarlo Fisichella was fifth, continuing the engine development the team have been running for Honda this week and having a busy day testing brakes, tyres, launch and traction control, aerodynamics and general set-up.

Olivier Panis was sixth for BAR and Toyota's Allan McNish seventh, also working on tyres and aerodynamics. Williams tester Antonio Pizzonia was eighth ahead of Renault's Jarno Trulli and Fernando Alonso respectively. Trulli ran the morning session concentrating on set-up and following a scheduled engine change Alonso took over in the afternoon to try out new developments.

BAR test driver Anthony Davidson was 11th and Jaguar's Pedro de la Rosa rounded off the times about two seconds off leader Raikkonen's time. Most teams now begin preparation for the San Marino Grand Prix at Imola next weekend on the 14th April.
