Renault's Jarno Trulli will spend his weekend doing some unusual training: he will compete in the Florence half marathon on Sunday.
It is well known that Jarno Trulli is one of the fittest drivers on the F1 grid: he is especially dedicated to ensuring that he is in peak condition when he steps into the cockpit. And running is one of his favourite pursuits: the Italian ran a local half marathon earlier this year, and has even competed in the New York marathon in the past. This weekend, he will add the event in Florence to that list.
"I love running," explains the Italian. "I take my training very seriously, and it is important to keep on pushing yourself to new targets: preparing for events like this really helps motivate you during training. Obviously, the endurance capacity you require for running this kind of distance helps when we are in the car as well: any benefits to your overall fitness are good."
Of course, the event is just for fun, but you can still be sure the Italian will be taking it seriously, and trying to finish as high up as possible. When the flag drops and the race starts he will be just one of many runners, but even so: once an F1 driver, always an F1 driver!
